We bought this home while we just had two small kids ages 1 1/2 & 2 1/3 & lived in it for 4 years. We had 2 more kids & a miscarriage during that time. We have only had a single income since having kids so this was kind of my way to help bring in some money as well. My husband was a teacher at the time & we spent about $20k total doing most of the work ourselves (with the help of my father-in-law as well) over the course of those 4 years & sold it for $72,500 more than we bought it for. Almost all the furniture was bought off of craigslist & fixed up or from someone we knew & got a deal on. The only exception was the living room couch we had previously bought for our apartment before with the money we earned from a moving sale we had & the small vanity in the downstair's bathroom.
